CAPS Online Calendar
System

The Continuing & Professional Studies Online Calendar System was
designed by Emmanuel Hill to serve as the planning center for scheduling
classes, classroom installations and for scheduling works on Mr. Hill's
staff. This website is also, a public intranet accessible only from
the Baruch College campus.
The Public web page is accessible by
clicking on the "planner" icon at the top of the Studentscs Web Page.
Selection of the "planner" link returns the page presented to the left
(above).
Once a user selects a Room for viewing, they are presented with a range of
weeks. Selection of a week presents the classes scheduled to take
place in that room during that period. The image on the right (above),
presents a typical weeks activity in the selected room. The page
itself is generated using an ASP generated script which links to the main
SQL Database which is the heart of the Calendar System.

Visitors to the site see formatted HTML
pages generated via ASP script, however, the Network Manger and his
Assistant interacts with another page generated with ASP script which allows
certain maintenance tasks such as adding, dropping or simply moving classes.
The page also presents at a glance the
scheduled Instructor and Lab Assistant if assigned. This page is
composed of many hyperlinks which point too actual "classroom appointments,"
which are generated from another ASP page which is directly connected using
ODBC to the SQL database.

The "classroom appointment" page allows
every aspect of the event to be entered and contains convenient drop down
lists to facilitate easy selection of existing classes which are then
correlated with the proper course title.
Once a course has been selected, the
administrator has the option to pick a date and room, which the database
validates to prevent "double-booking."
User options allow changing of the number
of sessions, Instructors, Lab Assistants, special comments and textbooks (if
indicated by the Main Office). This same page serves as the means to
make updates, additions (such as make-up sessions) or simply to cancel a
class.
