| Ever wonder what your children are learning in School? Some parents and sibling found out first hand. | ||||

Feb 11, 2000 Parents and siblings of TMA students got a
chance to experience first hand some of what students learn on Curriculum Night. Late one
evening, when most teachers would be grading papers, TMA teachers were hard at work
pulling up tables to teach class one more time. This time the audience was
interested parents and kids of all ages. Why
a Curriculum Night for Parents?
High School English Teacher Ms. Byrd prepares for parents by presenting the work of students.
Dr. Sandye Poitier Johnson, Principal of Thurgood Marshall Academy, explains why TMA conducted its first Curriculum Night On February 11, 2000:
To address their concerns, the school designated an evening in which parents could discuss with the staff the new standards and what their children are expected to learn.
Parents and siblings had an opportunity to view educational resources used in the classes, samples of lessons, students work and projects Overall the evening was a success and is sure to be another reason why TMA continues to build a community school that is tailored to the needs of the Harlem, New York area and its children.
