Thurgood Marshall Academy (TMA) was founded by the Abyssinian Development Corporation, the Fund for New York City Public Education and the New York City Board of Education in 1993.

TMA serves grades 7 - 12th and is striving to be one of the finest schools in Harlem.

We promise to provide each TMA student with an excellent education. In exchange, we expect our students to exhibit a willingness to learn and to make every effort to develop themselves while they are here.

Our graduates will leave this school with a commitment to making the world a better place by providing service to those in their neighborhoods, the nation and the larger global community.

Graduates will also be empowered with the skills, knowledge and motivation to pursue higher education at the nation's top colleges and universities, as well as to develop challenging and successful careers and businesses.

Know that you are being prepared to be leaders.

TMA students are being prepared to be the next generation of international, national, state and city leaders. Therefore students are expected to represent themselves, their families and this school in the most positive light at ail times. Students are also expected to help other students with academic and social problems and to help staff whenever possible. TMA students are positive role models.
